Pasadena’s Police Chief Announces Retirement
Learn more about Pasadena’s police chief retiring from the force. He also happens to be the first Latino police chief in Pasadena’s history.
PASADENA, TX — Pasadena Police Chief Al Espinoza made history in 2017 when he became the Hispanic to lead the Pasadena Police Department, but last month, the 37-year police veteran announced he was hanging up his shield and calling it a career.
On Tuesday, the Pasadena City Council voted 7-2 to accept Espinoza’s resignation, leaving some city council members a bit perplexed.
“You’ve done a great job doing what you’ve done,” Councilman Sammy Casados said during the meeting.. “Matter of fact, crime is down. I don’t understand why you’re leaving.” Read More Here
Pasadena Bat tests positive for rabies
A bat recently captured in Pasadena has tested positive for rabies. If you encounter a bat, always assume it can be rabid for your protection and call a professional for assistance.
PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) — A live bat found outside a store in Pasadena has tested positive for rabies. Now health officials are advising the public to take precautions. Bats in the attic post.
The Harris County Public Health Department (HCPH) says the bat was found at a shopping center at 1000 E Southmore Avenue, Pasadena in front of the Ross department store on August 24, 2018 at 11:30 a.m.
Rabies is a serious, deadly disease that can be transmitted to a person by contact with infected saliva through a bite or contact with mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, nose, and mouth). Original Source

La Canada Presbyterian Church Blood Drive
The La Canada Presbyterian Church will be hosting a Blood Drive at the Fellowship Hall. The donation sign-up table can be found on the church patio between 9 and 11 o’clock services on the Sundays in October before the event, in the church office during the week or appointments may be made by going online.
Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospitals Annual Rummage Sale Treasures and Trivia
The Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital will be holding its annual rummage sale, “Treasures and Trivia”. The Guild has held the sale each year for over 50 years, with proceeds benefitting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This year’s Treasures and Trivia Sale will take place again in Pasadena.
Howlin Halloween for Kids

Families are invited to visit the shelter for Halloween-inspired crafts, trivia games with giveaways, and, of course, candy.
